Missy Kurek

Co-Founder/Principal

With over a decade of experience working with the highest levels of fundraising and advising for the most senior levels of Democratic politics, Missy Kurek’s track record speaks for itself. Her action-based plans generated $200M in funds, elevated national brands, and mobilized national stakeholders. Whether in the public or private sector, Missy’s clients know she brings them world-class experience, a vast network, and impeccable political judgment.

From fundraising to campaign strategies, Missy served as the go-to trusted adviser for the Democratic party’s top leaders before launching mKz. During her time as Deputy Executive Director for the DCCC and Political Director for House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi, Missy showcased her ability to lead and advise teams, leverage networks to develop and execute a multimillion-dollar fundraising initiative and oversee strategy for the party’s most critical events - including the Democratic National Convention.

Prior to joining the DCCC, Missy worked in development for non-profit organizations and issue-based advocacy campaigns. She is a graduate of the Maxwell School of Public Affairs at Syracuse University and lives in Washington D.C. In her spare time, you’ll find her owning the leader-board at Flywheel or traveling the world in search of the best wine bar.

Krista Zuzenak

Co-Founder/Principal

Krista Jenusaitis Zuzenak takes good ideas and transforms them into unforgettable experiences. Her decade of experience conceptualizing, planning, and implementing events give her the foresight to take a client’s vision and craft it into creative, on-budget event design. Her unparalleled expertise, vendor network, and client portfolio make her the event planner organizations and individuals seek out for anything from an intimate VIP dinner, to remarkable weddings, to major inaugurations and fundraisers.

Prior to founding mKz, Krista led the DCCC's nationwide events operation. She planned hundreds of complex events in every region, scale and budget level. As Director of Events, Krista handled House Democrats' most prestigious and logistically-demanding events including intimate VIP dinners with House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi and President Obama to concert receptions with thousands of attendees. Whether negotiating vendor contracts, designing staging and menus, handling A-list talent and security details, integrating audio-visual elements, or training and managing first-class onsite event staff, Krista offers clients an unparalleled foundation of experience.

Krista’s event planning experience spans the private and public sectors. She also oversaw events and client relations at Atlantic Video Productions in Washington, DC, and worked as an account executive at a boutique event planning firm in Maryland. She graduated from American University with a degree in Communications. An adventurous traveler and fitness enthusiast, Krista is also enjoying her favorite journey: being a mom to 4 year old Isabelle and 1 year old Harrison.
